Description
These wonderful ceramic horses in a beautiful turquoise glaze are replicas of horses produces during China's Tang Dynasty. Along with figurines of camels and other animals, as well as of servants and civil officials, pottery horses like these were produced specifically to be buried with the wealthier members of society. The Chinese believed that this life would continue into the next, and so in order to preserve their status and high standard of living they would have ceramic replicas of their servants and most important possessions produced to be buried with them. These reproduction horses stand at over half a metre high, broad shouldered and muscular. The are available as a pair (each one facing either slightly to the left or right) or can be bought individually. The price shown is for one horse only.
