Leading designers and manufacturers of solid brass cabinet hardware, Armac Martin, is collaborating with renowned interior designer, Sophie Paterson, to launch a debut collection of luxury brass mirrors. Available from 13th April, The Claremont Collection by Sophie Paterson is exclusively available online for shipping worldwide.

A trusted name in interiors, family-run business Armac Martin has been creating interior hardware for over 90 years in Birmingham, England. Celebrating true craftsmanship, exceptional design and exquisite detail, its superior hand-finished products are favoured across the globe.

Sophie Paterson, founder of Sophie Paterson Interiors, a design studio based in London and Surrey, boasts a rich portfolio of residential interior design projects, both in the UK and overseas. Already an admirer of Armac Martin after selecting handles from its Gaumont collection for her utility room cabinets, Sophie approached the brand to suggest a collaboration after noticing a gap in the market for brass mirrors that complemented her projects.

Sophie says, “For years, my team and I have always struggled to source beautiful mirrors for dressing tables, bathrooms and vanity units. I’ve opted for Armac Martin hardware for my projects, and in my own home, and have always admired the feel, quality and design of their pieces. They are dynamic and great to work with so it felt like the perfect fit to collaborate together, and launch a mirror collection, harnessing their heritage and expertise, combined with my design aesthetic of timeless liveable luxury. We wanted to create a range that would work in any interior from classic to contemporary, with a design that is both functional and beautiful.”

Armac Martin worked closely with Sophie Paterson to devise The Claremont Collection, a trio of vanity and dressing table mirrors, and created 10 prototypes before deciding on three different sizes to cater for all styles and requirements. The Claremont vanity mirror features a magnifying side for detailed close-ups and is a smaller piece that can be easily moved around, making it the perfect option for a bathroom or bedroom. The dressing table mirror is hinged to tilt to the perfect angle, with its size suited for use in a more compact dressing room, whilst the Claremont panelled dressing table mirror is a larger statement piece with multi-angle panels, allowing the user to adjust according to requirements. Inspired by Art Deco style, each elegant piece is finished in a timeless satin antique satin lacquered finish and is made-to-order in the Armac Martin factory in Birmingham.

Richard McGrail, Commercial Director at Armac Martin said, “‘We are delighted to collaborate with Sophie Paterson to create a collection of timeless brass mirrors. Our talented team of craftspeople has brought her vision to life with a beautiful range of solid brass vanity and dressing table mirrors. This is an exciting step for Armac Martin as The Claremont Collection is our first collaboration and broadens our product offering to include something completely new for us, whilst also complementing our existing range and showcasing the beauty of brass.”

About Armac Martin
Founded in 1929 by Birmingham brassfounder Harold McGrail, Armac was predominantly a manufacturer of reproduction furniture fittings. Harold stayed at the helm of the Armac Group until his retirement in 1988 aged 83, successfully leading the business through the most difficult of periods in WW2.
Following Harold's retirement, his son Bryan led the company until his own retirement in 1996. He set about opening up export markets and travelled to all corners of the world to build new relationships and open new markets with success.
Today, the position of Managing Director is shared jointly by Harold’s grandsons - who still run the private family owned business. The two brothers have markedly changed the business through a continued programme of investment in all aspects and areas of the business.
With a reputation built on both the heritage that has seen skills passed down from generation to generation and incorporating modern day manufacturing techniques to ensure that quality is never compromised, Armac Martin is a leading name in luxury cabinet hardware fittings.
