National retailer, Flooring Superstore, has launched Serene – a new range of sustainable carpets made from recycled products rescued from the ocean.
Flooring Superstore’s new Serene range is available online and from its 32 stores, the two lines – Neptune and Poseidon – are manufactured using ECONYL® - a unique yarn made from recycled nylon fishing nets.

As well as abandoned fishing nets, Serene carpets incorporate other waste materials recovered from the ocean. Its eco textile backing – Eco FusionBac - is manufactured out of recycled PET plastic bottles.

The aim of the range is to give waste products a new purpose after being removed from the ocean, while making the water cleaner and safer. Thousands of sea creatures such as sea turtles, dolphins and seals are getting stuck in life-threatening waste dumped in our oceans. Each year, more than 100,000 sea animals are trapped and killed in abandoned fishing nets alone.

Serene is 100 per cent recycled and is available in two pile heights in 20 stylish, neutral and fashionable shades, including Arctic Reef and Island Crest. And the range’s benefits don’t end there.

Luxurious, dense and hard-wearing, these Saxony cut pile carpets offer longer tufts for a very soft feel that’s smooth to the touch. Neptune (9mm pile height, £39.99 per sqm) and Poseidon (12.5mm pile height, £39.99 per sqm) both offer excellent bounce back for maximum comfort and a long-lasting fresh appearance. Each is suitable for heavy domestic use, making it ideal for family homes or high traffic areas, as well as coming with a 20-year warranty. Neptune and Poseidon are available in 4m and 5m widths to suit individual requirements.

The launch of the new Serene product line follows the retailer’s corporate partnership with the ReSea Project as part of its commitment to have a positive impact on people and the planet. Having worked with the charity since August 2020, Flooring Superstore has now collected the equivalent of over one million plastic bottles from the ocean.
