Home & Gift Buyers’ Festival 2021 has been hailed a success, after running 18-21 July across the Harrogate Convention Centre (HCC) and grounds of the DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate. 

Organisers Clarion Events thank the Harrogate Convention Centre for its support, as the show, co-located with Manchester Furniture Show was the first major event to run at the venue, we would also like to thank our partners, suppliers and both the visitors and exhibitors for their support. 

Visitor numbers were strong and the quality of buyer was outstanding tracking in line with previous editions. The visitor sentiment at the event was really positive with retailers really enjoying meeting suppliers and doing face to face business. “The event is a real treat to attend during the year. A buzzing atmosphere, wonderful setting and amazing companies brought together to make a really inspiring showcase.” Neil Hunt, Owner, Nordicana Homewares

Alice Brooke, Buyer from National Gallery Company commented “Brilliant trade show with new suppliers I'd never seen before. A fabulous atmosphere.” 

Richard Ayett, Director at Northwest Greetings shared this sentiment in saying “If you are serious about Retail this is the must attend show, it’s also a chance to speak to company owners about their products in relaxed non stressful surroundings” 

The event was selected to be part of a limited number of pilot events in the third phase of the Government Events Research Programme with the support of the both the venue, local authorities, and the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Public Health Bodies. There were no restrictions on visitor numbers, or social distancing requirements, meaning that the gift industry’s favourite summer show was able to go ahead as normal after 18 months without large-scale, in-person business. 

The show continues to attract key UK buyers from independent, group and on-line retail stores, as well as contract and interior design buyers. Exhibitors have reported positive reactions and business, with buyers keen to stock up on new products and ranges. 

James Mace, Marketing Director from the Art File said “It’s been a fantastic show; it’s been a record breaking show. We’ve done Home & Gift for 18 years now and it was our best ever show I literally cannot think of any negatives to say, every customer who came on the stand loved the fact we made the effort to be here, they were all buying, the atmosphere has been fantastic and as always a great job by the Clarion team organising it all. We were a bit anxious coming back in with COVID, but the way the show has been orchestrated has been really impressive, now the confidence has been installed back into the exhibitors that have been here and also the customers and the buyers – in short we are really happy!” 

Brandon Rimmer, Managing Director Heyland and Whittle said “The Home & Gift show went above all expectations, the staff were very helpful and friendly. The customers were second to none, the stand was always busy and we made an absolute killing at the show. I would highly recommend this show to anyone who would” 

Health and safety remained paramount, and the organisers ensured that the safety of visitors, exhibitors, and staff onsite was a priority. Show Director Russell Rule said, “With the backing of the government and local authorities we knew that we would be able to run the show, and it is only with the support of our stakeholders that we were able to do so, safely and successfully.” 

Russell continued, “Home & Gift 2021 has been a resounding success! We would like to thank all of our visitors and exhibitors for their support in helping us to run this fantastic show. Plans are already in motion for next year’s edition of Home & Gift, and we can’t wait to see you all again next year.”
