I set up 'The Wildest One' in August 2020. I first started making Kintsugi art pieces as a hobby during the pandemic lockdown as I found it a lovely way to relax and take my mind off things. Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of Golden Repair. It is symbolic of embracing flaws and imperfections and, of course, it is a great way of saving things from landfill.
I was attracted to Kintsugi as I've always been a creative person. I studied at Art School in Edinburgh and have had a great career in Architecture, which I still maintain. However, Kintsugi has allowed me to be a bit more free flowing with my creativity. After producing a number of pieces I decided to create DIY Kintsugi kits and grow my hobby into a business. I now produce various DIY Kintsugi kits as well as Kintsugi art pieces which I sell on various platforms but primarily via Etsy.
My kits have been really popular, These became Etsy Best Sellers within a couple of months of starting out and I have sold over 1000 to date. I have also recently been approached by a U.K. TV production company inviting me to apply for a national prime time crafting/design TV show. Various retailers have been in touch with regards to stocking the kits as well as some of the Kintsugi art in their stores.
Kintsugi has quickly grown from a beautiful relaxing hobby to a great little business which I aim to continue to expand over the next few years.
