Get this Season’s On-Trend Sorbet Look

Ready to introduce some more colour into your life this spring/summer? Pair up your pastels to create this season’s most on-trend interiors look — a sorbet pastel palette.

“Pastels are a beautiful way of introducing colour and vibrancy into your interiors palette,” said Becca Stern, Co-Founder and Creative Director of colourful homewares brand Mustard Made.

“Pastel’s have been a strong theme over the last few years and the latest evolution of this is the sorbet trend - mixing and matching multiple pastels to create a look that is whimsical, joyful and still provides the sense of tranquility so many of us are looking for in our homes right now.”

Pastels are sometimes confined to the realm of the nursery or young girl’s room, but the use of a mixed sorbet palette, combining warm and cool-toned colours, lends a versatility to pastels that can see them move into any room.

“Pastels are so versatile,” said Becca. “They can be bold or softening, depending on how you style them and the combination of warm and cool tones creates a depth and sense of playfulness that can be appropriate in any room in the house.”

  • Don’t be afraid to mix and match — it’s hard to go wrong when it comes to combining your pastels, mix: blush + lilac, ocean + sage, blush + sage

  • Start creating your sorbet look by choosing one central pastel piece and build up the layers of your palette from there.

  • Accent your neutrals — make your pastels pop by adding in some neutrals to your space. Try artworks, cushions or lighting before committing to wall colours.
