Sustainability is the topic on everyone’s mind, now more than ever. As we all make a shift towards becoming more conscious consumers, we wanted to shine a spotlight on a few of the brands joining us at Top Drawer in February that are leading the charge within the world of ethical retail.

Vent for Change

For the makers at Vent for Change, sustainability sits at the very heart of everything they do. Their stylish stationery isn’t just beautiful to look at – from pencils made from recycled CDs and single-use plastic to FSC-certified paper, each piece is made to make a positive impact on our planet as well as the people in it. The brand donates 10% towards supporting children’s education projects worldwide, so every single purchase made goes towards shaping the world of tomorrow.

Turtle Doves

At Turtle Doves, their ethos is ‘buy less, choose well, make it last’ and that’s exactly what they’re trying to do with their recycled cashmere products! In a bid to tackle the harmful impacts of the fast fashion industry, the team at Turtle Doves give scrap and pre-loved cashmere a new lease of life with their gloves, cardigans, socks and more. By using every part of the materials they procure, and repurposing any scraps of their own, these guys aim to get as close to 0% waste as possible to help their products go further.

BIDBI

BIDBI - short for Bag It Don't Bin It – are all about creating beautiful reusable bags that don’t cost the earth (or harm it).  As well as being a fairtrade company through and through, BIDBI is one of the only GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified textile printing companies in the UK. Their bags are made of 100% natural materials only and are printed using eco-friendly methods in their Sheffield factory to provide businesses with an eco-ethical option for promotion that can be used time and time again.

Heaven Scent Incense

As one of the first candle companies to create a natural soy wax candle as an alternative to paraffin wax (a by-product of the car industry), Heaven Scent Incense has been shaping the industry in the UK when it comes to sustainable, environmentally-friendly candles since 1993. Now home to a wide range of products, including bath salts, body butters and wellness boxes, sustainable practices continue to play as big a role in the company’s ethos now as when it was first established, utilising solar energy to power their main premises, recycled boxes and glass for their packaging, and only the best natural ingredients for their products.
