Heating & Plumbing London have launched a brand new Waterproof Picnic blanket which ticks the boxes for the style & environmentally conscious picnic lover!

 

Brijesh Patel, co-founder of Heating & Plumbing London explains:

"The stunning Geometrical Checks Wool & Wax picnic blanket design is inspired by vintage fashion from the late 19th Century and has been translated into a picnic blanket weave with modern aesthetics. We have designed a unique blanket that folds instead of a traditional roll resulting in a slim bundle that sits flat like a purse or a bag, held in a bespoke leather should carrying straps".


The long shoulder leather carrying strap is hand crafted in London, leaving hands free for other picnic essentials!  Attention to detail is very important for Heating & Plumbing London and so is minimising our carbon footprint which means that we make all our belts at a leathersmith workshop which is a few miles away from our design studio in London!

Brijesh fruther highlights the essential feature of this new launch:

"The Wool & Wax Edition is our most eco-friendly picnic blanket to date. The polyester backing has been replaced with waxed organic cotton backing, making this a blanket with smart eco credentials with a strong element of British heritage & craftsmanship." 

We source organic cotton approved by the OCS (the Organic Cotton Standard is the International textile standard that assists in proving the agricultural origin of cotton) and by the Better Cotton Initiative.

 

With a tighter weaving and a higher density of wool, the blanket is made to last.  Our wool is mulesing-free.  The top layer is 100% Pure New Wool.

Waxed cotton was initially created for the Tea Clippers in the 15th century when sailors had to fight natural elements on the high seas. Re-designed in the British Highlands for the country sport of sailing, this luxury material has been part of the British lifestyle for generations.
