Make the most of the long spring weekend with these stylish yet simple home projects.

Rebecca Snowden, Interior Style Advisor at FurnitureChoice.co.uk, shares 5 décor updates that you can start (and finish) this spring Bank Holiday.

1. Refresh the home with painted yellow accents

Evoke the freshness of spring with a sunny yellow update.

"Colour block the dining room with yellow accents,” Rebecca says. “Start by painting a classic wooden chair yellow and pairing it with a white dining set for a summery contrast. If you want to go all out, brighten up a doorway with a splash of yellow paint and add matching accessories.”

“Aside from that, you can also freshen up your child’s bedroom with a pop of yellow. Paint a feature wall with vibrant marigold and colour block the rest of the room with a blush pink palette.”

2. Transform a space with wall panelling
Make an elegant statement with wall panelling.

“Wall panelling has become a popular trend on social media over the past year,” Rebecca says. “From classic period styles to modern shaker or tongue and groove designs, there’s a style to fit any home. It’s also fairly simple for beginners to do if you use adhesives or pre-cut panels. Another tip would be to opt for a neutral colour scheme to highlight its elegant lines and features.”

3. Style a gallery wall in the living room
Liven up the living room with a bold gallery wall.

“A gallery wall is a great way to showcase your favourite artwork, photography or prints all in one place,” Rebecca says. “Choose bright prints or artwork to add a pop of colour to the room. Mix and match frames in different sizes for an eclectic look or you can also opt for symmetrical style frames depending on your layout.”

4. Create a summery reading nook
Create a soothing space ideal for unwinding with a book.

“Decorate a corner that’s dedicated to self-care,” Rebecca says. “Choose a relaxing colour palette like sage green and a comfy armchair that’s great for lounging. Make the space extra cosy by layering with comfy accessories like a throw or cushion. Freshen up with indoor plants for that extra boost.”

5. Set the scene with a tablescape
Welcome the warmer weather with an elegant tablescape.

“Since it’s nearly summer, opt for a pastel palette in the dining room,” Rebecca suggests. “Start with a fresh white table as the base then elegantly layer with pastel tableware and colourful floral bouquets. Choose tableware in a mix of pink, light blue or mint green for a whimsical pastel statement. Complete the look with gold cutlery for a polished and modern look.”
