SAY HELLO TO OUR NEWEST ROSE INTRODUCTION..

'ASHTON WOLD'

Peter Beales Roses is excited to reveal the latest addition.

A vibrant new yellow shrub rose that celebrates beauty, biodiversity, and heritage.

Norfolk, UK – Thursday 8th May 2025 – Peter Beales Roses is thrilled to unveil its latest rose breeding introduction, ‘Ashton Wold’, a radiant yellow shrub rose making its debut at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025.

This exclusive Rose will go live for pre-order on 19th May at 8pm.

Combining old-world charm with modern performance, ‘Ashton Wold’ features soft, buttery-yellow blooms with an appealing fragrance and an elegant, shrub habit. Specially bred with pollinators in mind, this insect-friendly rose is a haven for bees and other beneficial insects, making it as good for the garden as it is for the environment. This rose specifically bred for its wildlife potential also produces lots of small orange hips for interest in the Autumn for Winter; providing food for our native birds.

Hardy, healthy and repeat-flowering, ‘Ashton Wold’ is a robust and versatile shrub rose suited to borders, mixed plantings, or as a standalone feature. Peter Beales Roses head breeder Michael Baldwin comments that 'Ashton Wold has a lovely habit with strong shiny foliage, with multiple flower buds forming in abundance'

'Ashton Wold' was the family home of Charles Rothschild (1877–1923), a pioneering naturalist and early advocate for wildlife conservation. A member of the prominent Rothschild family, Charles dedicated much of his life to the study and protection of Britain’s natural habitats. In 1912, he founded what would later become The Wildlife Trusts and proposed the UK’s first network of nature reserves. His passion for biodiversity is still felt today, and Ashton Wold itself remains a treasured site for wildlife and ecological preservation.

Whilst 'Ashton Wold' will take prominence in this years display at Chelsea, it will be surrounded by nearly two thousand of Peter Beales’ most stunning roses. Designed to display the range and diversity of roses and the benefits they can have to enhance wildlife. Offering countless photo opportunities for Instagram enthusiasts and plant-loving visitors.

“We are incredibly excited to launch ‘Ashton Wold’ at Chelsea,” says Ian Limmer, Nursery Manager at Peter Beales Roses. “It’s a rose that not only offers exquisite beauty, but also reflects our commitment to supporting wildlife and sustainable horticulture.”

‘Ashton Wold’ will be available to order online and at the Peter Beales nursery from May 2025 following its Chelsea debut.
