Yarns
The linen used in Earthlight Linens are sourced from spinners who are both Masters of Linen®, ensuring the highest standards of craftsmanship and sustainability. The linen yarns are Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certified, ensuring that they meet strict safety standards and are free from harmful chemicals, making them safe for both the environment and the end user.
Crafted with irregular-spun and space-dyed yarns, the fabrics in Earthlight Linens reveal gentle shifts in colour and texture, offering a naturally textural surface full of depth and variation. These tonal and structural irregularities are intrinsic to the yarn and speak to the authenticity of the fibre. Rather than the uniformity of synthetic finishes, these fabrics reflect the organic beauty of linen, where every metre carries subtle differences that enrich the overall effect. Designers and makers should expect and embrace these shifts as part of the fabric’s aesthetic integrity and natural charm.
At Ian Mankin, we’ve been proudly designing and weaving linen collections since 1983. Our mill, however, has been a part of Lancashire’s textile legacy since 1871, where weaving is a specialised craft perfected over generations. The mill is uniquely positioned to produce the highest quality fabrics, within a controlled environment, carefully regulated humidity and air circulation, ensuring the ideal conditions for linen. This expertise, built over decades, allows us to offer Earthlight Linens, a collection that benefits from both cutting-edge design and centuries of local craftsmanship. With every metre woven here in the UK, we reduce fabric travel and ensure a product that is as sustainable as it is luxurious.
