The story behind SewnNotThrown

๐Ÿ•˜

How it began

Introducing SewnNotThrown, a one-woman fabric recycling fashion brand run by Crawley based Meg Davis. After being inspired by TVโ€™s The Great British Sewing Bee, Meg, 32, started making garments using preloved and unwanted fabrics in 2020 to bring together comfort and sustainability.

Meg scours charity shops to find material and also offers custom-made items. She reveals: โ€œOne customer bought one of my jackets because it was made from a blanket sheโ€™d forgotten she'd had as a child and it brought back tons of happy memories. I make clothes to order if a customer has some fabric they want to upcycle.โ€

Important milestones

When someone asks me where I got my jacket - and I can say I made it and give them a business card!

Our core values

Sustainability and upcycling is at the heart of SewnNotThrown - each item is made from preloved fabrics as the planet already has enough fabric to go around!

Team spotlight

I am a one woman sewing machine - but my tags are hand made by my parents, along with business cards!  All fully upcycled from scrap fabric and card.
