Founded in 1987, ILIV began with a simple ambition, to celebrate craftsmanship and bring a global perspective to British interiors. Years of travelling, learning from master weavers and working alongside specialist mills have given the team an insider’s view into rare techniques and timeless design traditions. This deep-rooted knowledge and passion continues to shape ILIV’s collections today, where global influences meet local artistry to create fabrics that feel both considered and truly individual.

In 2012, ILIV channelled this expertise into a bold new direction and began creating collections, rich in character and with an unmistakably British identity. Inspired by the UK’s longstanding role as a global design hub, ILIV’s fabric collections fuse archival elegance with contemporary spirit. From time-worn paisleys and Jacobean florals to bold geometrics and textural weaves, ILIV offers a truly eclectic style, designed to suit a wide variety of spaces from classic country homes to modern hospitality spaces.

“At ILIV, we don’t believe in a single style or fleeting trends,” says Debbie Leigh, from the ILIV design team. “Our collections are intentionally diverse, offering a library of patterns, colours and textures that allow every client to tell their own story. Our fabrics are as at home in a stately drawing room as they are in a boutique hotel lounge.”

Every ILIV collection begins with an in-house team of six designers, who bring their visions to life through a rare blend of traditional and modern methods. Much of the artwork is hand-drawn from scratch, often in collaboration with local artists, before being scanned and digitised.

This analogue-to-digital approach allows for precise colour work and subtle adjustments, while preserving the original character of the designs. It is a method long associated with some of the most respected names in design and underscores ILIV’s commitment to craftsmanship at every stage.
