Consumer interest in herringbone flooring is soaring, according to new research from family-run Woodpecker Flooring.
Using data from Google Trends, the wood floor experts found searches for ‘herringbone’ peaked at their highest point in five years earlier this month.
It comes as Woodpecker Flooring launch Orkney – a new take on classic herringbone flooring.
The engineered wood collection is built around rich textures and harmonious natural tones.
And so meticulous is the attention to detail, all six finishes within the collection are part of Woodpecker Flooring’s Legacy Range - a distinctive range of boards with exceptional detailing including chatter marks, handworked edges and scorched finishes.
Darwyn Ker, Managing Director of Woodpecker Flooring, said: “Herringbone is a design classic. It has been used for centuries to bring a luxurious touch to homes and it’s certainly enjoying another moment in the spotlight right now.
“Orkney celebrates the timeless beauty of herringbone and has been specially crafted to bring character and depth to the home.
“It is an incredibly special collection, and we cannot wait to breathe new life into interior spaces.”
The new Orkney Collection is available in six finishes: Marbled Oak, Pewter Oak, Fauna Oak, Smoked Oak, Truffle Oak and Passage Oak.
All Orkney boards come with a 100-year guarantee.
Woodpecker Flooring carried out the research using the Google Trends platform, which takes into account over 3.5 billion searches a day. Earlier this month, searches for the term ‘herringbone’ within the ‘Home and Garden’ category peaked at their highest point in the last five years.
The Orkney Collection is available now from Woodpecker Flooring, with prices starting at £107 per m2.
