Cool colours are a great idea if you want to make a room feel more spacious. Light blue, grey and green tones will make a small living room appear bigger and refresh the room. If you want to know if it’s a good idea to paint your room in cool colours, the first thing to think about is the position of your room and the season. North-facing rooms already feel cooler and don't receive much natural lighting, so cooler tones may not be a good idea. Instead, go for colours with a red or yellow undertone to warm up the room. If you have a south-facing room, using cool colours with a blue or grey undertone will help lighten up the room as it receives a lot of sunlight. 

If you’re thinking of which season is the best, summer is a good time to introduce cool tones to lighten up and refresh the home especially when it’s hot outside. Choose light blue tones and white to cool down and bring balance to the living room when the temperature is at its peak.

When it comes to painting the living room in cool colours, you don’t have to paint all the walls. You can introduce it as a standalone feature wall and decorate around it. Alternatively, you can create your unique mural for the feature wall in a cool tone to make a bold statement. Aside from wall colours, you can bring in accessories like cushions, throws or rugs to lighten up the space.”
