Original Style Crowns the 'Promenade' Collection as

Tile of the Year 2026!

Stripes have walked through centuries of design history without ever falling out of fashion – from ancient architecture to tailored pinstripes, from weathered deckchairs to modern textiles. For Tile of the Year 2026, British tile manufacturer Original Style is honouring this enduring design with its Promenade Collection: a celebration of the stripe as a pattern of quiet strength and timeless style.

Made in Original Style’s Devon tile factory and designed in its in-house studio, Promenade features a simple, elegant stripe in three classic colourways:

• Hastings – a deep heritage green.

• Brighton – a crisp coastal blue.

• Margate – a warm sunny yellow.

"The inspiration for Promenade came from the enduring presence of stripes in our everyday lives – from the neat rows of a freshly mown lawn to the weathered canvas of a deckchair at the seaside," says Becca Keenan, Product Designer. "We designed the collection here in our Devon studio and used the latest inkjet technology in our factory to bring it to life, with every tile made by skilled artisans. It’s proof that something so simple can be incredibly effective in transforming a space."

Emma Hughes, Studio Manager, adds: "Stripes have a natural versatility – they can feel at home in both heritage and contemporary interiors. With Promenade, you can use them to frame a small cloakroom, add energy to a kitchen, or ground a boot room in character. They’re easy to live with, endlessly adaptable, and bring rhythm and personality into the home."

The Tile of the Year accolade recognises not just a design choice, but an enduring classic: stripes are no passing trend, but a design rhythm that has always had a place – and always will.
