John Dyer Captures the Light of the Riviera in New Painting Collection

British artist John Dyer captures the radiant light, colour, and rhythm of the French Riviera in a new collection of original paintings celebrating Mediterranean life.

Acclaimed Cornish artist John Dyer, the Eden Project’s artist-in-residence, presents Colours of the Côte d’Azur — a new body of work inspired by his travels along the South of France. The collection includes ten original acrylic paintings, created en plein air and in studio, exploring the timeless beauty of Nice, Menton, Monaco, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and the Camargue.

From the sweeping Baie des Anges and palm-lined promenades of Nice to the flamingoes, rice paddies, and white horses of Provence’s Camargue, Dyer’s canvases celebrate light, life and landscape through vivid, expressive colour.

Each painting reflects Dyer’s instinctive colourist style — cobalt skies, turquoise seas, coral architecture, and bursts of lemon, emerald and magenta — capturing both the energy and elegance of the Riviera.

“The Côte d’Azur has long inspired artists with its light, warmth and elegance,” says Dyer. “Working here deepens my connection to colour and place — it’s an experience that renews me, both creatively and emotionally.”
