FERMOIE ACHIEVES B CORP CERTIFICATION

"Since launching Fermoie in 2012, we have remained committed to designing and making beautifully crafted products with inherent longevity, using responsible materials and considered manufacturing methods. Our B Corp certification recognises the meaningful progress achieved across every part of our business, the result of dedication, care, and collaboration from the entire team. It's wonderful to see their hard work and enthusiasm recognised in this way."

"By joining the global B-Corp community, we stand alongside businesses who share our belief that meaningful, long-term progress depends on collaboration and collective responsibility. No individual company or industry can solve the challenges of sustainability alone. We're proud to be part of this movement for positive change." Martin Ephson, co-founder Fermoie.

To achieve certification, Fermoie completed the B Impact Assessment. This involved an in-depth evaluation of its business across five key areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The company achieved a verified score of 84.8 points: certification is awarded to applicants scoring 80 or above. In working towards B Corp certification, Fermoie has made incremental but meaningful improvements across its operations to ensure it meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

This work builds on the company's founding principle that success is measured not only by its products' beauty, joyfulness and longevity, but by its positive impact on people and the wider world. This is not an end point, but part of an ongoing commitment to operating responsibly and creating products that bring lasting enjoyment, whilst minimising their impact on people and the planet.

About Fermoie

Fermoie is a creator of fine fabrics, wallpaper, lampshades and accessories all designed and manufactured entirely in-house using its own proprietary colour-mixing and production techniques. Every Fermoie design begins with the drawn line, with the full repeat pattern meticulously created by hand, on paper, before it’s translated to screen engraving. Every colour is individually created, mixed and edited in-house according to our carefully considered palette and artistic principles. Customers can be confident that any chosen combination will match perfectly, ensuring aesthetic harmony, artistic balance and design integrity.

Fermoie represents the opposite of, and antidote to ‘throwaway culture’, making products with lasting beauty using materials and processes that tread lightly on the Earth and its resources. All cloth is exclusive to Fermoie and aligns with its sustainability commitments to keep its house in order, source Ever-Better Materials and work towards Net Zero Carbon emissions. Pure linen is woven to the studio team’s specification from highly sustainable flax grown locally to the mill. Cottons, union cloths and linen sheers are produced in England. Launched in 2024, its Indoor-Outdoor fabrics are woven in Lancashire, England, from 100% recycled plastic bottles and made without PFCs, PFAS and other harmful ‘forever chemicals’.

Fermoie was established in 2010 by Farrow & Ball founders Tom Helme and Martin Ephson. It now employs over 50 people at its design studio, production facility and showroom in Marlborough, England, and showroom and retail space in Pimlico Road, London, where cushions and lampshades are also available for purchase. The company received the King’s Award for Enterprise (International Trade) in 2024, with Fermoie fabrics available worldwide through selected retailer partners.
