Interior Design Masters finalist Jack Kinsey shares his top tips for Autumn/Winter styling with Naturewall

SlatWall specialists Naturewall unveil the key looks shaping AW25 – with expert guidance from designer and DIY tastemaker Jack Kinsey

As the days shorten and the temperature drops, homeowners naturally look for ways to create a warmer, mood-enhancing interior.

To help guide the season’s design decisions, wall panelling specialists Naturewall have teamed up with interior designer, DIY enthusiast and BBC Interior Design Masters’ finalist Jack Kinsey to reveal the key Autumn/Winter styling trends – along with Jack’s expert tips on how to bring each look to life.

Jack recently partnered with Naturewall to elevate his own home using their new SlatWall Enriched Oil Collection, as well as curating a special edition sample pack that reflects his signature warm, textural approach.

Here, Jack breaks down the season’s defining looks – and shares how to make them work in any home.

Earthy warmth with jewel-toned accents

Autumn/Winter interiors are becoming richer, deeper and more cocooning. Warm terracottas, rusts, olives and chocolate browns are elevated with jewel-like burgundy, mustard, navy and forest green – a palette that feels both grounding and luxurious.

Jack said:

“Start with a warm, natural foundation – a dark oak panel works brilliantly at this time of year – then layer in deeper tones through furniture and accessories. I love pulling in glossy dark green pieces or navy accents, because they sit beautifully alongside autumnal shades. Mustard and deep greens always feel right in autumn; you’re basically pulling inspiration straight from the changing landscape.”

Tactile luxury and natural textures

This season celebrates texture in all its forms – from raw wood grain and stone to velvets, ceramics and foliage. The result is a home that feels inviting, layered and visually rich.

Jack added:

“Let the natural grain of the wood take centre stage and build the rest of your scheme around it. Walnut or enriched-oil oak panels add instant warmth, and then you can contrast smoother finishes with matte ceramics, wool throws or leafy plants. The mix of textures helps everything bounce off each other and makes the space feel alive.”

Characterful nostalgia and the retro revival

Mid-century influences continue to shape Autumn/Winter interiors, but with a modern sensibility. Think darker woods, brass accents, curved silhouettes and archive-inspired palettes.

Jack said:

“In my own home office, I chose Naturewall’s SlatWall Grand Acoustic Dark Oak Panel because it has this incredible warmth and depth. It creates a strong foundation for retro shapes, vintage lighting and little brass touches. The key is blending nostalgic character with modern comfort so it still feels fresh.”

Curated maximalism with a collector’s touch

This look embraces personality and storytelling. It’s about mixing patterns, eras and textures to create a space that feels truly individual – anchored by calm, neutral backdrops.

Jack added:

“Paintable reeded panels are brilliant for this look because they add subtle texture and movement without overwhelming the room. They’re also incredibly versatile – I used them to back a bookcase and even repurposed some to create a DIY marble-effect coffee table. Then it’s all about layering: ceramics, books, photos, greenery, lighting – pieces that mean something to you.”
