Planting Verve Dahlias
Verve Dahlias are best planted out during May and June with their flowering period being July to October. Find a sunny spot in your garden to plant Verve Dahlias, ensuring you dig soil improver into the planting hole before planting. In heavy clay soils add horticultural grit to the bottom of the planting hole. Ensure bulbs are not planted during freezing conditions where the ground is frozen. Verve Dahlias are best planted at a depth of 2.5cm, 40cm apart to ensure they have potential in their growth. Verve Dahlias are available in many heights, so there is a solution for all spaces. Our range of heights varies from 30cm, suitable for containers up to 100cm perfect for mid to back of borders.
Caring for Verve Dahlias after they are planted
To ensure Verve Dahlias reach their potential remove faded flowers to prolong flowering. Ensure Dahlias are watered well during dry spells. When foliage has died back, usually after the first frost, cut stems back to 5cm above soil level. Dahlias are generally not winter hardy. Therefore over-winter, dig up the tubers and store them in a cool, dry and frost-free place ready to replant in the same way next year.
