Leading curated marketplace The British Craft House has launched a new campaign encouraging consumers to rethink everyday purchases by choosing handmade over mass-produced alternatives.
Titled “The Handmade Upgrade,” the campaign highlights how small, intentional swaps - from candles to jewellery to homewares, can transform ordinary purchases into meaningful investments in craftsmanship, sustainability, and independent British businesses.
“People often assume handmade means more expensive or less accessible,” says founder Susan Bonnar. “But in reality, many handmade pieces are comparable in price - the difference is in the quality, the story, and the impact of where your money goes.”
The campaign showcases a series of “Instead of → Choose This” comparisons, guiding shoppers toward artisan-made alternatives that offer longevity, individuality, and a deeper connection to the maker.
