Baked Tiles warms up its Kitkat Lustre collection with two new colours

Baked Tiles has expanded its popular Kitkat Lustre collection with Caramel and Speckled White, two new porcelain mosaics that bring warmth, texture and plenty of personality to walls.

The additions arrive as neutral interiors enter a more interesting phase. Heading into 2027, stark whites and uniform beige schemes are giving way to cocoa browns, chalkier off-whites and surfaces that change as the light moves across them. Homes are still embracing colours that are easy to live with, but easy no longer has to mean plain.

Kitkat Lustre Caramel introduces a rich brown with golden undertones, finished with a high-gloss glaze that deepens the colour and picks up the light. It can hold its own across a full kitchen splashback or shower wall, but is equally effective in smaller doses around a basin, inside a shower niche or across the face of a fireplace.

Speckled White offers a softer alternative to a conventional white tile. Its pale glaze is scattered with subtle flecks and gentle variations in sheen, giving the surface a sun-bleached, handmade appearance. It works particularly well where a room needs lightness without feeling clinical and provides an easy partner for expressive marble, terrazzo or richly coloured cabinetry.

Lesley Taylor, founder of Baked Tiles and BIID registered interior designer, says: “Neutral tiles have become far more interesting. People still want colours they can live with for years, but they do not want the walls to look flat or anonymous. Caramel has that lovely edible warmth that works beautifully with timber and creamy stone, while Speckled White gives you the freshness of a pale tile without wiping all the character out of the room.

“The gloss is important too. Kitkat mosaics have lots of edges and grout lines, so the light catches each little stick differently. Even when the colour is restrained, the wall never looks static.

“For Caramel, I would resist pairing it with lots of cold white. Put it beside walnut, warm oak, antique brass or a pale stone with a biscuit undertone. Speckled White can take a stronger companion, so try it with burgundy paint, deep olive cabinetry or a terrazzo containing warmer chips. Lay every sample beside the worktop or sanitaryware and look at them again under evening light before deciding on the grout.”

The slim mosaic format also opens up more options than a conventional rectangular wall tile. Each design is supplied on a 29.5cm x 28.4cm sheet, allowing it to follow curved surfaces and fit neatly around smaller details. Used vertically, the narrow sticks can draw the eye upwards and make a shower enclosure or splashback appear taller. A horizontal layout places more emphasis on width and works particularly well behind a long vanity unit or kitchen worktop.

Grout choice can change the result considerably. A close colour match will allow the surface and glaze to take the lead, creating a fuller field of colour. A lighter contrasting grout will outline every individual stick, placing more emphasis on the mosaic pattern. For a full wall, Baked Tiles recommends viewing a larger sample area before making the final decision, as both new finishes include natural variation in tone and sheen.

Kitkat Lustre Caramel and Kitkat Lustre Speckled White are made from porcelain with an 8mm thickness and gloss finish. Suitable for interior walls, both designs are priced at £150.04 per m².
