House Nine and Chaunceys Timber Flooring expand signature oak flooring collaboration with new ‘Burnt Toast’ finish

Following the success of Buttered Toast, the latest addition to the House Nine collection introduces a richer oak finish and, for the first time, the designer flooring collection is available to purchase online directly from Chaunceys Timber Flooring.

The latest addition to the House Nine collection, Burnt Toast has been created in response to the growing desire for warmer, more tactile materials within the home. Combining the natural beauty of European oak with a carefully developed deeper tone, the finish provides a versatile foundation that complements both traditional and modern interior schemes.

“It brings warmth and character to the space, giving it a cosy, lived-in feel that suits the home’s intimate scale. The deep tones create a striking contrast against white walls, linens, and stone, adding visual depth even in smaller rooms, while grounding the space against the abundance of natural light and greenery outside. It’s also a timeless choice rather than a trendy one, so it won’t feel dated in a few years, and practically speaking, darker finishes hide scuffs and wear far better than pale wood - a real advantage in a small out house.”

Ian Tomlinson, Managing Director at Chaunceys Timber Flooring, adds: “We have worked closely with House Nine for many years, and it has been a pleasure to develop another finish that reflects the way people are designing their homes today. We are seeing a growing move towards warmer, richer timber tones as homeowners look to create spaces that feel welcoming, layered and connected to natural materials. Burnt Toast celebrates the character of oak while offering the quality, durability and craftsmanship that are at the heart of everything we create.”

Burnt Toast is available as a durable 15mm engineered European oak plank, designed to offer the warmth and character of solid timber with the stability and practicality required for modern living. Available in 180mm and 220mm widths, the flooring gives homeowners and designers the flexibility to create a look that suits both contemporary and traditional spaces.

For the first time, the House Nine flooring collection is also available to purchase online directly through the Chaunceys website, making the designer collaboration more accessible than ever before. Suitable for everyday family life and compatible with underfloor heating, the collection combines timeless design with exceptional craftsmanship and lasting performance.

The launch follows the success of Buttered Toast, the original House Nine collaboration, which was created to offer a lighter, warmer oak finish that could work as a neutral foundation across a variety of interiors. Burnt Toast introduces a deeper, more cocooning alternative, reflecting the continued shift towards richer natural tones, layered textures and considered material choices within interior design.

Whether used throughout an entire home or as a statement feature within a single room, Burnt Toast offers a timeless alternative to cooler-toned flooring, bringing warmth, texture and longevity to contemporary spaces.
