Analysis of Pinterest search data by the family-run tile specialist reveals growing interest in green-led decorating schemes, with searches for rooms inspired by the natural shade climbing over the past year.
Leading the charge is ‘green living room’ searches, which are up by 200% over the last 12 months. Searches for the term ‘green tiled bathroom’ are up by 60% while ‘green kitchen ideas’ searches have climbed by 40%*.
Abbas Youssefi, Founder of Porcelain Superstore, said: “Green has been building momentum in interiors for several years, but we are now seeing a clear shift towards earthier, more grounding shades. Homeowners are moving away from brighter, more energetic greens and embracing tones such as olive, moss, sage and forest, which feel calmer, warmer and easier to live with.
“These shades have a strong connection to nature, so they can make a room feel more settled and restorative. That is particularly appealing in busy homes, where people are increasingly looking for interiors that provide a sense of comfort and escape.”
For those looking to commit to green, Abbas advises to start with a splashback, shower enclosure or feature wall. Using green in a contained area allows the colour to make an impact without overwhelming the room, while still bringing a calm, grounded feel to the space.
What’s more, green pairs naturally with warm whites, timber and neutral finishes making it an easy colour to introduce into an existing interior scheme.
For homeowners ready to fully embrace green, Abbas urges them to consider using it across a larger surface, such as a tiled floor or even an entire bathroom. Richer shades like forest, emerald and deep olive can create a cocooning, luxurious feel, particularly when paired with warm metals, natural wood and layered lighting. The key is to vary the tones and textures slightly, so the finished space feels considered and characterful rather than overly uniform.
Abbas added: “Green has enough personality to make an impact, but its natural undertones mean it is unlikely to date quickly. The result feels characterful, calming and closely connected to the outdoors.”
