Graham & Brown announces Design & Colour of the year for 2027

Each September, UK based interiors brand Graham & Brown announces its Design and Colour of the Year. 

For 2027, in celebration of artisan craftsmanship and the beauty of hand-painted design, Graham & Brown is proud to reveal its 2027 Design of the Year, Roselle Grove, Colour of the Year, Rose Earth and Mural of the Year, Red Rose County.

Graham & Brown Design of the Year 2027: Roselle Grove

Inspired by the rich design of chintz, Roselle Grove honours a design tradition and process that began with Indian artisans in the 16th century. Using hand painted and block printing techniques with local dyes on cotton cloth, these makers created vivid floral gardens and botanical motifs that captivated Europe before arriving in Britain.

Hand painted in the Graham & Brown design studio in a gauche paint, which has a rich opacity and can be easily layered to add texture. Roselle Grove is steeped in history, heritage and artisan detail, the design captures the delicate whimsy of Indian chintz with an added touch of elevated English flair, created and crafted across the globe for generations.

“As chintz grew in popularity across home furnishings and fashion, European designers’ adapted the style, introducing larger floral motifs with a distinctly unique Western expression.

Creating Roselle Grove as our 2027 Design of the Year felt like a natural way to honour this rich industrial and creative legacy. It also celebrates the intricate beauty of chintz, tracing its journey along the Silk Road, through Europe and into Lancashire’s mills, before finding its place in Victorian homes across the country.”

Graham & Brown Colour of the Year 2027: Rose Earth

To complement the 2027 Design of the Year Roselle Grove, Graham & Brown has announced its Colour of the Year: Rose Earth.

Rose Earth is a warm, versatile shade that works beautifully on its own or perfectly paired with a palette of warm neutrals, soft sage and cooler tones.

Soft and understated, it mixes well with new colours like Kelp and Sue’s Jumper paint to cool down a space. Alternatively, it can be perfectly partnered with warm neutrals, or used on its own, to bring warmth to a room.

Inspired by natural mineral pigments traditionally sourced from clay deposits in Italy, Rose Earth reflects the timelessness of earthy colours for their depth, reliability and natural character in the paint and textiles industry. A shade rooted in heritage, thoughtfully reimagined for today’s homes and tapping into current trends, the studio expects to see this colour make an impact in 2027 and beyond.

Graham & Brown Mural of the Year 2027: Red Rose County

Inspired by the rolling Lancashire landscape, this hand-painted mural captures the region’s panoramic scenery through bold blocks of colour and expressive brushstrokes. The design depicts a stylised version of iconic local landmarks, Rivington Pike and Jubilee Tower, through the eyes of local in-house designer Victoria Davison.

Influenced by traditional scenic wallpapers, the mural places craftsmanship at its heart, with visible texture adding depth and bringing this bucolic design to life. The result is a contemporary interpretation of Lancashire’s natural beauty that celebrates both place and artistry.

All Graham & Brown murals are digitally printed with sustainability in mind and created bespoke to suit the unique dimensions of your space.
