Twitter is an amazing viral tool that can generate new business and create a strong brand awareness so it is important you get on board and engage and interact with your customers as much as possible. If you think your account might be lagging and would like to get your twitter account up there with the best, here are the key tips in creating a twitter account that will benefit your business and sure to be a stand out from the crowd.

1. Customising your account.

As discussed in the importance of Facebook blog post the header and the general branding of your account is very important. Be sure to make use of the header image feature.  The header and the profile picture should be a strong representation of your brand. An image of your store and/or some product shots is always an effective idea for your cover photo, followed with your logo for the profile picture. This will create a strong brand awareness and let your followers know instantly what sort of company you are the types of products you sell.

2. Twitter overload

Just like all social media platforms, too much is too much. It is important to stay on top of your account and be as active as possible however do not overload your precious followers with too much information as you run the risk of losing your followers. We suggest that 2- 3 tweets is an effective amount.

3. Keep it interesting

Your customers are following you on twitter because they like your business and want to stay up to date with the latest and greatest information you have to share, so be sure to keep your tweets interesting and exciting. Re tweeting and replying to your tweets is super important, (especially the positive feedback), it is important to let your followers know you are reading their tweets and value/ appreciate their time and effort to tweet about your business so make sure you aim to respond to as many as possible, it will also show of your strong twitter presence.

5. Don’t auto-post tweets to Facebook (and vice versa)

Running your own business can of course be demanding and time consuming, so it makes sense to auto post tweets across all of your social media platforms, however we ask that you please don’t, in the social media world it is considered poor social media etiquette and it simply looks lazy and will overtime lose your personal interaction with your followers. If you are finding it hard to keep on top of all of your social media platforms then it is probably best to pick one that works the best for brand and put most of your focus there.
