Description
DeepL TranslateStanding Puffin, Ceramic Raku Fired.
This puffin is slip decorated in full adult puffin colours,
Made by Chloe Harford in her workshop alongside the river Tamar in the Tamar Valley between Devon & Cornwall.
Raku is a rapid firing technique, adapted from ancient Japanese ceremonial tea bowl firings. Only 10 – 15 pieces are placed in each small gas fired kiln and fired up to around 1,000° c, each piece is then individually taken from the kiln red hot and placed in a bin of sawdust & wood shavings which instantly combust, the final finish is then down to careful timing.
