Description
DeepL TranslateA stunning rustic design, that literally flows to the floor, Indigenous' Saman Arch Table is the newest addition to the furniture collection. Crafted from salvaged timber from naturally fallen Saman trees, each table is individual – comfortably seating between 8 to 10 – with bespoke commissions available upon request.
Also known as the Monkey Pod or Rain Tree, Saman is a species of flowering tree native to Central and South America. It is large and shallow-rooted, with a wide umbrella-shaped canopy known for its beneficial oxygen production. The fallen ‘Suar’ hardwood is cut in a particular way to create the table top, which is rich in knots and annual rings, along with narrow chinks and crannies that are joined by traditional butterfly joints. The Saman Arch table top flows over the edge at one end to meet the ground, whilst the opposite end is supported by a single, chunky leg. The wood is unfinished and can be treated with teak oil or a similar finish, to suit. The table’s dimensions are 3300 mm in length, 1200 mm in width, it stands 780mm tall and weighs 250 kg.
