Coral Is Hot For 2019

Living Coral has been named the 2019 Pantone Colour of the Year, described as “an animating and life-affirming hue that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.”

Trend expert and lead designer at British soft-seating brand Icon, Allison Chatten, says it’s a colour which works well in a variety of interiors.

“Coral is a versatile colour which has been rising in popularity recently. It’ll be especially great for Spring collections as it works particularly well in natural light.

“Whether it’s warm, peachy hues, terracotta or lighter pinker shades, coral can be easily teamed with different colours. It works equally well alongside muted lights as it does with more vibrant pieces, so it really is an adaptable colour.”

Icon’s terracotta armchair, new for SS19, is a soft fill seat which moulds perfectly to the user with the back rest and arms providing firm support.

The Serenity lounger also moulds to the body and can be used as an upright chair for chatting with friends or as a laid back lounger perfect for soaking up some sun.
The Eclipse stool is a lightweight pouffe which is useful for pulling out a moment’s notice, or even as an informal table for placing down magazines or newspapers.

All three pieces are made from a tactile, water-resistant material meaning they can be used indoors or out.

A TASTE OF THE EXOCTIC FOR SS19

Environmentalism and the desire to travel to exotic places are behind British soft furniture brand Icon’s latest collection for Spring Summer 2019.

Inspired by the opulent palm houses of the Victorian era and combined with modern, urban living, the range offers vibrant colours and vivid botanical prints.

Trend expert and head of design at Icon Allison Chatten said: “The palm house style is proving to be an enduring theme and is evolving as environmental concerns grow alongside the increased migration to urban areas and smaller living spaces.

“There is a nod to British Colonial style, where historically collectors motivated by the romance of exotic travel would bring back authentic textiles and furnishings from Asia, India, Africa and the Caribbean. Fast forward to 2019 and the Millennial consumer too, collects and blends design influences from all over the world.

“Greenery such as sage is joined by new colours beige, terracotta and amber oranges allowing for rich and unusual colour combinations.”

Warmer weather also sees outdoor living spaces such as terraces and gardens coming back into use, so Icon has utilised its tactile but water-resistant fabrics for the range.

Pieces in the collection include Palm Print cushions (from £14.99) which work well when paired with Icon’s brightly coloured but plain cushions (from £8.99).

The Icon Oria Beanbag Chair (from £69.99) is available in terracotta, teal and mustard, as well as neutral and charcoal. The seat offers comfort and support while having the added advantage of being lightweight so it can be easily moved to outdoor terraces or gardens to soak up the Spring sunshine.

Ideal for flexible living, the Oria Eclipse Footstool (from £49.99) is perfect for pulling out a moment’s notice as a seat for visiting friends, or even as a surface for placing magazines or a tray of drinks.

Bench cushions (from £12.99) in vibrant brights, neutral and eye-catching stripes utilising strong greens are great for finishing off the look.

Icon is part of the Bazaar Group, a leading soft seating and furnishings manufacturer based in Northumberland. As well as Icon, the Bazaar Group’s brands include Leda, Eden Learning Spaces, Bambeano and Ayla.
