NEW FROM BACK IN ACTION: Varier launches world-famous Ekstrem chair in new upholstery collection, Gentle 2. Available from Back in Action, the UK’s leading expert in ergonomic furniture
A standalone object that represents one of Norway’s first postmodern designs, Ekstrem by Varier features playful curves and organic shapes which allow for endless seating positions. Back in Action have been a proud retailer of Varier for over 30 years. This spring, they will launch its newest collaboration to the UK market. For the first time in nearly 40 years, Varier is launching a new upholstery collection, Gentle 2, for its Ekstrem chair. The collection will be available to view and try in Back in Action’s flagship London showroom.

Partnering with pioneering Dutch fabric brand, Febrik, to offer Varier’s signature chair in a brand new plush, velvet knitted fabric, Gentle 2. The collaboration of craftmanship, technical expertise and curiosity has resulted in a contemporary update for an iconic chair.
The new upholstery option features visible seams which accentuate the chair’s distinct shape, adding to its strong character. Gentle 2 has an elegant shine and an opulent and contemporary feel. The textile is constructed by knitting loops to create excellent stretchability. The irregular thicknesses of the woollen yarns means that the textile stands out with a voluminous expression that sets it apart from traditional woven velvet and the first of its kind on the market. Now available in six colourways and include Orange, Rose, Blue, Green, Black and White. Comprised of 28 separate pieces of fabric which are sewn together to create two main covers, one for the left side of the chair and one for the right. These pieces are fitted to the chair by hand which ensures a snug fit and high quality finish.
