I gradini sono realizzati in faggio, rovere e frassino nelle tinte naturale, noce biondo, noce chiaro, noce scuro, sbiancato e tortora.
The Fontanot stairs reshape the Skyline of Milan
From the Unicredit Pavilion, to the Bosco Verticale and the Isozaki Tower, the company is rising in the universe of Milan.
As well as Leonardo da Vinci changed french castles’ faces with his brilliance, so Fontanot, Italian company of stairs-maker, reshaped the Milan Skyline customizing the stairs in collaboration with important architects.
Last project was for Unicredit Pavilion, the new multi-purpose meeting space in Gae Aulenti square, near Fontanot Headquarters. This designed and tailored stair that connects the auditorium to the walkway is an example of the know-how of the brand that has seduced everyone with its blend of design and technology, just like the brand new architectural jewel of Milan.
The helical stair is made up with lateral carbon steel structures and the lifting body is formed by different metal sheet, while the treads and landings are raised in solid oak wood. On the walkway, three strips of stainless steel have been set, the balustrade is made of temperate crystal strips and all the part is illuminated by a system of linear lighting LED.
It’s not the first time that this company flies near clouds. The first masterpiece was Bosco Verticale realised by the famous architect Boeri.
Fontanot has provided the stairs of the entrance lobby that are characterised by the large glass surfaces that blend with the outside world in one scene magnified by the green of the "De Castillia Garden". The staircase, specially made and designed by an accomplished group of professionals (Dolce Vita Homes, Antonio Citterio, Patricia Viel and Partners and Coima Image), is built with lateral double structures in polished stainless steel AISI 304. The steps, with the internal structure in painted carbon steel and finishing cover in the lower part in steel again, are arranged for the containment of a tread in a natural limestone rustic green with 2 cm in thickness. The railing is composed of extra-clear tempered laminated glass with polished bevelled edge on three sides and nestled into the side structure. The handrail, in stainless steel, is secured to the railing with special kneecaps steel. Bosco Verticale building is considered one of the most interesting projects of recent years and it gained the International Highrise Award.
Last but not the least, Fontanot has thrown itself into the heart of City Life by capturing the highest building in Italy: Isozaki Tower. With its 202 meters high, designed by Arata Isozaki and Andrea Maffei, it has been enriched by a Made in Fontanot structure in painted steel which consists of lateral stringers, parapets in tempered laminated glass slabs and a handrail with an integrated LED lighting system.
Fontanot won the Milan skyline, "step by step"!
Fontanot, a leading company active in International Industrial Design and manufacturer of indoor staircases, goes way back to 1947 when the Albini brothers opened a carpentry shop in Rimini where, among other things, they produced stepladders. The turning point came in the ‘70s when Enzo Fontanot joined the company and the de facto Albini&Fontanot brand was born. The ‘80s saw the change from artisanal to industrial staircases. Right from the early ‘90s Fontanot revealed itself as a strong identity projected into the future, becoming a leader and strengthening its presence on the foreign markets with the idea of creating fast and easy to assemble kit staircases, the perfect solution for every need, well dimensioned and with an excellent quality/price ratio. In 2009 Fontanot reached a major milestone: it reinvented itself with the new Fontanot brand to open up to the future with a renewed industrial spirit. Fontanot’s mission is innovation by tradition, anticipating the market with original design solutions with high technological content, versatile and in line with the design and engineering requirements of the residential building sector. Contract division works complex “custom-made” projects and on large scale orders while the consumer division satisfies any interior decor necessity thanks to a wide array of models and services offered, the e-commerce channel through exclusive products and the DIY channel for DIY enthusiasts.
