Welcome to the Davey Lighting Press Office
Welcome to the Davey Lighting Press Office
Established in 1990 by Peter Bowles, Original BTC began life as an Oxford based home lighting brand and has secured two further lighting brands; heritage marine lighting manufacturer Davey Lighting and LED lighting manufacturer Beadlight, under its umbrella. Exports account for 50% of the production, supplying both the retail and contract markets around the world with an emphasis on the hotel, restaurant and aeronautical industries. With a family history steeped in retail, manufacturing and design, Peter designs the company’s products in conjunction with his son Charlie who became Director in 2012.
Original BTC, Davey Lighting & Beadlight each offer a diverse and unique range of lighting designs. All brands draw inspiration from Britain’s rich post industrialisation history as well as incorporating modern tastes and trends with our very latest innovative designs.
Quality, detail and an interesting mix of materials are integral to each brand’s designs. These are created by using the best quality raw materials to their upmost capability, paying great attention to the concept and form. From using centuries old techniques to the very latest technology, all lights are handmade and manufactured in the UK. Six production facilities include a metalworks, glassworks, and a Stoke-on-Trent bone china factory rescued from closure in 2002. It is here where the lighting designs, whether crafted from versatile bone china, the finest aluminium, copper, brass and iron, come to life. The detailing of cotton braided cables, satin chromed bases & contrasting coloured shades make Original BTC, Davey Lighting and Beadlight’s products uniquely distinctive and popular in Europe and beyond.
DAVEY LIGHTING: TILED DINER PENDANT
Tiled Diner pendant 10 £1,899 (pictured) and 6 £1,659
The Tiled Diner marks a new direction for Davey Lighting, incorporating geometric bone china tiles set within a sturdy weathered brass frame. A more decorative alternative to Davey’s minimalist Diner, the soft translucency of the handmade tiles beautifully offsets the industrial-style metalwork. Streamlined and elegant, the Tiled Diner’s elongated chassis is designed to be hung over dining tables and kitchen islands.
Available in two sizes, rows of three-dimensional Stoke-on-Trent crafted tiles are set within a hand-soldered frame, dipped in a weathering solution at the Original BTC group’s Birmingham metalworks to achieve Davey’s signature finish. Proving what’s inside counts as much as what’s outside, the frame houses a strip of high power LED chips, delivering a warm, ambient glow. This uniform strip of light evenly illuminates the tiles, while a shaft of light is thrown down onto the surface below. The Tiled Diner hangs from adjustable current-carrying suspension wires, feeding the low voltage power signal from the dimmable power supply housed in the weathered brass ceiling rose.

New from Davey Lighting, Octo is a family of versatile, slim profile LED wall lights for exterior and bathroom use. Designed to be played with and explored, the Octo can be rotated and aligned to create an endless variety of patterns and effects. Best in multiples, install the Octo at low levels for step or path lighting, and at higher levels as an uplight. Hand crafted in the UK from sand cast brass, the expertly machined IP55-rated lights are presented in either a raw or weathered brass finish, with crisp geometric lines adding to the collection’s robustly elegant aesthetic.
Fitted with a frosted acrylic lens, Octo offers clean throws of light, illuminating walls, façades, stairways, paths and architectural features. With a single wide window, Octo 1 is designed for larger wall washing effects and can be used as an up or downlighter, at any level. Ideal for flanking bathroom mirrors or exterior doorways, Octo 2 has two narrow windows pointing in opposite directions; mount vertically to light columns or vertical beams, or horizontally for unique and creative lighting effects. Octo 3 has three narrow windows and offers a playful tool for lighting in multiple directions. The choice is yours.
