VALENTINE’S DAY
To Celebrate Love
There are many wonderful trees and flowers in myths and legends associated with love. What could be more romantic than to send someone you love living proof of how much they mean to you. Aphrodite, the goddess of love was associated with gardens, grace and beauty.

Quince, Cydonia oblonga ‘’
The ancient Greeks called the quince ‘a golden apple’. The mythological apples of Hesperides were Golden Quinces as was the apple given by Paris on Mount Olympus to Aphrodite, the goddess of love. The Quince is a lovely little self fertile tree living to a great age. It bears beautiful delicate pink blossom in spring and large golden fruit in autumn. £48.00

Myrtle, myrtus communis
The Myrtle was a favourite of Aphrodite. Born in the sea and rising from the foam upon a beautiful shell, she was preceded by Nereids carrying garlands of myrtle. Myrtle has ever been considered a symbol of love. Myrtle has tiny aromatic evergreen leaves, tiny white flowers followed by small deep purple berries. A mini standard in a terracotta pot £27.50

Camellia japonica
The Camellia is known for its beautiful sculptured flowers which bloom amongst dark glossy evergreen leaves. A good luck gift to a man. The symbolism of the Camellia is ‘I shall love you always’.
