Description

Shandong, circa 1920 - the thick frames and solid look of this cabinet are typical of much of the furniture produced in the northern provinces of China, including Shandong, where it was made early in the last century. Made to be functional and to withstand the more extreme climate of the north, the style shows fewer ornamental elements than furniture produced further south. This particular cabinet is made from pine, restored and updated with a new, shiny finish in a distressed blue green to reveal the wood grain. Two shallow drawers are set above the doors, which are slightly inset and fitted with new, simple drop handles. The pure, functional design would suit any space, adding a touch of colour and understated oriental style.
