Description
DeepL TranslateThis fresco secco panel is inspired by early 18th‐century verdure painted cloths. These were affordable imitation tapestries filled with stylised trees, bold outlines and decorative foliage. This version swaps traditional hunting scenes for a bucolic landscape where an owl glides over a Cotswold manor house set among trees.
The artwork is painted into an open‐weave hessian. A strong interior filler was worked into the fabric first to create a textured base. Thin washes of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ were soaked in to prime the surface, then the design was built with layers of painting, blending and mark making. Before the wax was applied the artwork was gently flexed at the back to create subtle cracks and patina.
Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ used
Napoleonic Blue as the main colour and backdrop.
Giverny, Greek Blue, Primer Red, Paprika Red and Arles and sealed it with Chalk Paint Clear Wax to deepen the colours and gives it a time-warn effect.
