Description
DeepL TranslateClork is a rather unusual minimalist table clock by Amsterdam brand PUIKart. A circular face encased in natural cork that follows the shape as a thin strip around most of the edge, but on one side the thin circle becomes a rounded right-angled corner. One is drawn to this clock by its asymmetry, time suddenly gains more weight. The corner also strengthens the visual impact which comes from the use of hand-finished soft natural cork contrasting with pure white painted sheet-metal and black hands.
Dutch designer Ernst Koning, the creative head behind Ilias Ernst Industrial Design, explained the philosophy behind the clock "Time rolls on, but once in a while you need to stand still, Clork does not present a full circle, it has an edge that stabilises you for the moment."
