Artisans meticulously weave natural rattan into this attractive and functional shape and then apply a protective wax finish, safeguarding against moisture and ensuring longevity. Indonesia has a rich heritage of weaving rattan; an important cultural tradition was to weave rattan into Apais, these are decorative mats that were used to dress traditional long houses. Baskets were also woven with a specific purposes, such as washing, carrying, and storing food. We are careful to ensure the rattan used in the production of our products is cultivated sustainably.
