You may be forgiven for feeling we’ve stepped back into the 1970s, but rattan has made a great interior comeback.
Think rattan baskets, lampshades and side tables.
These items can still be used to evoke a laid back beach house, a bohemian pad or a more formal colonial residence.
But this time round they’re also taking on a more contemporary edge. Instead of pairing them with the fussy patterns favoured by past generations, they can be used to bring texture and elegance to a minimal Scandi setting.
