Description

Gansu, circa 1880 Walnut was a commonly used wood for carpentry in Shanxi and the western part of Gansu province, considered superior to the more abundant elm. Its golden brown tone and open grain were highly sought after. This elegant storage cabinet beautifully showcases the wood's features, enhanced by a deep, rich stain. Crafted in Gansu province, the cabinet is expertly constructed with sturdy frames, thick panels, and a chunky overhanging top. Its aged appearance, particularly the worn top surface, adds to its charm, while the simple circular hardware on the two doors likely replaced the original. In addition, two lower drawers and a single removable shelf provide ample storage space.
