Description

Crafted in Gansu, China, this large, tall sideboard is of a type traditionally used for storing rice or grain. The doors have been converted from fixed panels to allow easy access to the interior and what were once removable half boards in the top, providing the only access to the inside, have been sealed.
On each door are the original paintings set against sepia tones depicting various flower vases, bronzes and other curios. Referred to as 'bogu', this motif was common in Gansu and other Chinese provinces and was meant to reflect the wealth and importance of the owner of the cabinet. The thick cabinet frames and top surface are in black, contrasting beautifully with the red and cream of the doors. With removable shelves and ample storage space inside, this would be ideal for adding impact and interest to any room.
